Its about time we showed you our lovely paper mache creations. Bear and Rabbit! We love how they turned out and it was a blast getting messy with our hands again. Here’s a little crash course in paper mache-ing incase your a paper mach virgin!

STUFF YOU’LL NEED

- Clag (or any kind of liquid glue, I’ve often made my own by simply mixing flour and water) 

- Lots of newspapers! 

- Paint brushes (the bigger the better) 

- Balloons, coat hangers etc (for the shape of the image you want)

- A hair dryer or heater 

- Paint 

- Sticky tape 

LETS PAPER MACH! 

Basically you need to know beforehand what kind of image or mask or thing you are wanting to make. In our case we decided on a rabbit and a bear mask. For the rabbit we needed a big balloon for the face, two smaller balloons for the cheeks and coat hangers for the ears. Once you have your shapes ready tear as much newspaper as you can into smaller pieces. Once you have as much paper as you need lather the shapes in glue and start sticking! Do as many layers as you want, the thicker the better because when you pop the balloon or remove the shape you don’t want it to collapse into itself. 

Having a hair dryer or heater on hand makes the process a lot faster if you are wanting to add more layers and paint to your image. Don”t be afraid to create anything you like! Paper mache is so much fun but it does take a long time so make sure you have some decent flicks to pop on while gluing! 

We have been getting creative this week and have started to make some paper-mache creations to assist in our up coming photo shoot. Its been years since either of us have dipped our creative toes into the paper-mache world and now we’re both addicted!

So my lovelies the next rainy day you have why not grab the Age (after you’ve devored every word of course) and your PVC and get your paper-mach on. I promise you won’t regret it, there is something terribly calming about the paper-mach.
